  • Solution Hint: This is solved by management (blocking the trigger) and a slow, positive re-introduction (like we are doing with Beatrice and Pepper).

• Territorial Aggression:

  • Description: Aggression occurs when a cat feels their core resources (food, litter box, sleeping space) are threatened by another cat's presence. Often seen in specific "bottlenecks" like hallways.

  • Solution Hint: This requires intense resource decentralization (N+1 rule in multiple locations) and strategic floor-plan adjustments.

• Fear/Defensive Aggression:

  • Description: One cat (the victim) has learned to preemptively strike, hiss, or hide because they fear the other cat. They are defending themselves.

  • Solution Hint: This requires confidence building (e.g., clicker training) for the fearful cat and counter-conditioning to change their emotional response to the aggressor.

• Status/Relationship Aggression (Rarely Dominance):

  • Description: Conflict over access to resources or prime resting spots, sometimes stemming from mismatched play styles or an unstable early relationship.

  • Solution Hint: Requires highly structured separation and slow re-pairing using positive association techniques.
